New Opportunities, Inc. (NOI) is the Community Action Agency serving Waterbury, Meriden, Torrington and the surrounding communities. We are a private, non-profit corporation that has been providing social services to the area for 45 years.

We offer a variety of social programs in the general areas of: Energy Assistance/Weatherization, AIDS/HIV Prevention, Education and Support Services, Child Welfare and Family Services, Early Childhood Education Programs, Elder Services, Homeless Shelter/Housing, and Ex-offender Programs.

As the 4th largest employer in Waterbury, NOI plays a huge role in the community. Collaborations exist with companies, agencies and municipalities to provide services, develop policy and implement creative solutions that build relationships across race and class lines to end poverty.

• Since 2006, NOI has made great strides in its new initiative, Move the Mountain through the work on their Transformational Leadership Plan. Staff has been working together to come up with solutions to end poverty in Waterbury and work in teams to determine and achieve NOI’s 10-year strategies that will have a high impact on the community.
• NOI is excited to be the lead agency that facilitates and convenes the community-wide initiative Circles. CIRCLES is a multi-faceted community-wide initiative to end poverty in a given community through an intentional building of relationships across class and race lines.
• New Opportunities, Inc. continues to be on the cutting-edge of services and programs designed to aid families to achieve self-sufficiency. With support from staff of all levels, NOI Is leading the way for social services in delivering holistic case management to individuals and families in need. NOI’s Board of Directors is committed to the mission by vowing to reduce child poverty by the year 2017.
