New Opportunities president to become chamber leader

The president of a local nonprofit is poised to become the next president of the Waterbury Regional Chamber.

James H. Gatling, president of New Opportunities, will take over for Gary B. O'Connor, a local environmental lawyer, in April, said chamber President Lynn Ward.

Gatling has served a two-year term as vice chairman. It is traditionally a position held by the person who is being groomed to take over the business organization.

O'Connor is finishing up his second term as chairman.
