New Opportunities holds annual scholarship reception; winners announced

New Opportunities is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2013 scholarship awards benefiting children in the Greater Waterbury and Greater Meriden areas.

The recipients of the Afro-Latin-Indian Scholarship and Competition, Patricia H. Mayfield Memorial Scholarship, New Opportunities Employee Scholarship were honored and awarded their scholarships at the organization's annual scholarship reception held on July 19th. The recipients of the Meriden Black Expo scholarship were honored at the Meriden Black Expo Banquet held on June 22nd.

New Opportunities has awarded over $800,000 in scholarships since being established in 1985. Here is a listing of the 2012 scholarship recipients:

Money raised for the scholarships is a product of the several events and fundraisers. Major funding streams include the annual Bobby Bonds Golf Classic held in September, and the Meriden Black Expo festival held each June.
